Why can't I have these strokes of genius during the daytime? Most of my thoughts and the majority of my motivation come at night time after everyone's gone to bed. Blogging. I've been doing it for years now. I'm coming to a point in my life now where, after two years of life being stagnant at best, the ball will finally start rolling.
I was recently accepted into my college's respiratory therapy program. Orientation is the 27th and class starts late August. It had taken me 4.5 years after graduating high school to figure out what I could possibly do with my life, but I finally narrowed it down to this one. That's mostly what I plan for this blog to be about.
So why respiratory Therapy? Never in a million years would I have thought that this is what I'd end up choosing. i had wanted to be an astronaut in kindergarten, at least until my mother informed me that 1) She had noting astronaut-y for me to wear for "dress up as what you want to be when you grow up day" and 2) I had to do a lot of math. Forget that. I also went through that "I want to be something nearly impossible" phase, which included a pop singer (I'm tone deaf despite eight years of playing violin), a choreographer (I can't dance), and a famous writer ( i couldn't tell you what an adverb is off the top of my head)). I started getting a little more practical - instead of writing award winning novels, I'd have a newspaper column instead! - and eventually found myself interested in a medical career. Not just any medical career though - the less school needed, the better. My first though was EMT, but I seriously got laughed at for that one. Scrawny little Courto lifting a 400 pound man who just had a heart attack onto a stretcher? Pure lolz! After that it was radiation therapy, but you need a 3.75+ GPA at the very least to get into the program and, well, I don't have that. So I wound up at respiratory therapy. Researched it, didn't sound half bad and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to do it. I had the prerequisites, I have the grades, so I went for it. And I got it. |

Well it sounds like you narrowed it down very well. I hope that you really do end up liking this field and not just do it because you have the prerequisits for it. This type of job should pay well though. So it sounds like a good plan. How many years of schooling do you have ahead of you for this career choice?

It's a two year/six semester program.
